Frown and smile, little pirate ;)

So when I came home yesterday, Croga showed me he could frown a little bit with the paralyzed part of his face! At first I didn’t see it and thought it was wishful thinking of him. He has had it already with this discomfort. But it wasn’t! Today he could smile a little bit better too. Looks like the recovery already started. Yay! I am so very happy for him. Since the recovery times he found in the internet varied from 3 weeks till 6 months. And the last time he had this, his recovery actually took as long as 6 months. And now it looks like his recovery will be very much sooner! He still looks a little strange off course, but if this is progressing, he will be his old self again way before we go on vacation. And that means he can drive himself ;)

Pirate Croga ;)

So Croga went to the doc yesterday morning. It turns out to be what we already thought: Bell’s Palsy So now he has a prednison (medication) prescription and an eye patch to prevent his eye from drying out. It’s cute :) He looks like a pirate now.

If everything goes as expected, he should be fully healed within 6 to 8 weeks, right in time for our vacation to Scotland :D
So luckily it wasn’t as bad as I feared. Although it still can be bad if it doesn’t heal, but for now we assume it will heal completely :)
And Croga? He is just Croga, positive as ever and smiling all the time (and that looks weird, with only half his face smiling) ;)

Have you ever been afraid of something…really afraid?

Have you ever been afraid of something and I mean really afraid? I am not easily scared or afraid. I was raised in a way that taught me not to be afraid of anything, whatever it is, you can cope with it, as a human being has a great ability to deal with things. But that does not mean I am never afraid, just not easily. I was afraid of loosing my dad and I did and hey I am still here. I am afraid for loosing other family members or friends, but hopefully that will not occur anytime soon. Although you never can be sure, can you? Read the rest of this entry »

Troy

I saw Troy this evening. For the third time or something. I am a huge Brad Pitt fan (and not just because he is good looking ;) ), I love most of his movies although I haven’t seen all of them by a long shot.
The second reason I love Troy, is the setting of the movie. For some reason, movies that take place in a time a couple of thousands of years ago, appeal to me. I loved Gladiator. I love movies that take place in Scotland like Rob Roy and Braveheart, although a different time setting, still a long time ago.

Troy tells the story of the Trojan War, the great story by Greek poet Homer. It’s a war story, a story about love, love between 2 people and love for their land and king, about brotherhood and death.

Being blessed with what you have.

Yesterday we went to Croga’s family, his stepfather had his birthday. Croga’s two brothers were also there. The oldest one with his wife and two sons and the younger one alone. Let me tell you, seeing those kids again confirmed once again that Croga and I are right not wanting any kids. Those two were tired around 5 PM and were screaming and yelling and running around, I hated it. By the time we went home at 7 PM I had a splitting headache. I feel blessed for not having children :)

Seeing the three brothers sitting at their mom’s dinner table, made me also feel blessed with what I have with my sister. Read the rest of this entry »
